The Voluptuous Delights of Peanut Butter and Jam (Inscribed)

Set against the backdrop of civil war and the death throes of a colony, Laren Liebenberg's dark and delightful novel about growing up in Africa. Nyree and Cia O'Callohan, two sisters growing up on an isolated farm in the East of what was Rhodesia, in the late 1970's. The girls fending for themselves most of the time create interesting ways to entertain themselves. The book is full of interesting and sometimes dark characters. The author writes in a wonderfully descriptive way and really transports us into the thoughts of these sisters. It was a book that will stay with me for a long time.
