On 7 March 2004, Zimbabwean police impounded an American plane with sixty-four alleged mercenaries on board. The men were on route to Equatorial Guinea, where they planned to overthrow the country's president Obiang Nguema, a relic of Africa's tyrannical past. The plotters, led by former SAS officer Simon Mann, were more interested in a share of the oil, of which Equatorial Guinea was the third largest producer. But the plan failed, and the plotters were seized and interrogated in African jails. This updated edition describes Mann's illegal abduction and gripping trial.
