Until now all the research and all the literature about the so-called 'African Independent Churches' has been the work of outsiders. It is therefore not surprising that we do not recognise ourselves in their writings. This little booklet is our first attempt to speak for ourselves. As we explain in the booklet, it its simply the story of a pilot study that we undertook ourselves. We hope to answer many of the questions raised by the outside authors. We are convinced that our book will come nearer to the truth than anything that has been written about us up till now.
