The Big Move August 10 2016

It has been a long time since we published a blog.
I truly thought I had got away with this and then I discovered ... I have readers !

People have asked me when the next one is to be written.
I was shocked and astounded .
But there you go.
Life is full of surprises.

I may mention that I was also asked while I had an arm full of books that I was packing when we did our BIG MOVE recently.
This was five minutes after the very same customer burst into tears and went into a lengthy diatribe telling us that we are the reason she shops at Bedford centre.

After many years in the centre we have made the decision to move on.
Three years ago we moved to a new spot in the centre and it did not work out as well as we hoped. We decided not to renew the lease.

The shop was too large and the rent too high.

Our customers were devastated as were we.
I took to keeping a box of tissues on the counter to dry the copious tears.
At this point I want to thank you all for being so special and caring.
Without our very large customer base we may have had to leave much earlier.
I know it sounds strange but due to your support we could approach the decision of whether to stay or go in a much more rational manner.
We miss you all and love the fact that so many of you have followed us to our other branches.
When we find our new home you will be the first to know.

No matter what I write I do not think I can say it as well as Dr Seuss.
The day I handed over the keys I read my well thumbed copy of
Oh, the Places You’ll Go!
And well I took it to heart.
So thank you again Dr Seuss for providing the answers .


This is what kept me going....



You'll look up and down streets. Look 'em over with care.
About some you will say, "I don't choose to go there."
With your head full of brains and your shoes full of feet,
you're too smart to go down any not-so-good street.

In that case, of course,
you'll head straight out of town.

It's opener there
in the wide open air.

Out there things can happen
and frequently do
to people as brainy
and footsy as you.

And then things start to happen,
don't worry. Don't stew.
Just go right along.
You'll start happening too.

OH!
THE PLACES YOU'LL GO!

You'll be on your way up!
You'll be seeing great sights!
You'll join the high fliers
who soar to high heights.

You won't lag behind, because you'll have the speed.
You'll pass the whole gang and you'll soon take the lead.
Wherever you fly, you'll be best of the best.
Wherever you go, you will top all the rest.


And we will ..
